The New York Symphonic Brass launched its career in December of 2003 with a highly acclaimed recital at St. Paul's Chapel at Columbia University in New York City. Founded by members of some of the finest ensembles in the New York City Metropolitan Area, the New York Symphonic Brass is remarkable for its excellence in programming and performing works not originally written for brass quintet. The ensemble is in residence at the Cathedral of Saint Patrick, where it performs with visiting artists and for live telecasts of Christmas and Easter services. Upcoming engagements include performances at the United Nations in New York City, and concerts in Taiwan and Japan in July and August of 2005. In December of 2005, they will continue their popular annual holiday concerts at the First Presbyterian Church in Stamford, Connecticut, for an expanded 10-piece brass ensemble, organ and percussion. The members of the New York Symphonic Brass are especially proud of their many years of association with Maestro Mamoru Takahara and the New York Symphonic Ensemble. The New York Symphonic Brass is pleased to announce the release of its first recording, a CD of brass music encompassing the Ars Nova, the Renaissance and the Baroque. This disc contains many original arrangements, which are heard here for the first time. |
